There has traditionally been a shortage of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) roles across the board, and Miroslava Duma, is here to disrupt that shortage. An advisor to Diamond Foundry, Miroslava talks about growing perfect diamonds above ground using solar power resulting in no carbon footprint and a positive impact on the environment.
MD: "There’s another company on the West Coast called Diamond Foundry that is growing perfect diamonds aboveground using solar power; there’s no carbon footprint. The earth’s rough diamond supply is set to drastically diminish by 2030, and this, in my opinion, is where the industry should be looking. Leonardo DiCaprio is a big investor in this technology. He’s pushing it in Hollywood, but almost no one in fashion is part of the conversation yet. Right now we’re in negotiations with different international jewelry brands about starting a line of jewelry made with these laboratory-grown diamonds."
