NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK
"My jewelry isn’t like everybody else’s because I don’t have a jewelry education. I learned to blow glass. I learned interior design. I learned mechanical engineering. I learned art history."
Born in Lithuania, Alex Sepkus initially studied to become an architect; however, the medium left him feeling limited. Instead, he co-opted the exacting standards and rigorous details of the trade and translated them into his own language of fine jewelry. Each piece of Alex Sepkus jewelry is handcrafted in the artist’s studio in New York City, using microscopes to achieve incomparable levels of detail. The textures and patterns that weave throughout his work are at once intricate and playful. Through these fantastical compositions, Sepkus has found a hidden dialect of beauty that references centuries of craftsmanship and design, yet feels completely at home in today's modern world.
